I’m starting a non-profit research organisation. It works on cruxes in the transition to powerful AI: finding the disagreements that actually decide what labs, funders and governments do next, making sense of them, and producing the evidence that would settle them or at least sharpen them. Reports and technical research, written for the people making the calls, plus workshops to get the right people arguing about the right thing.

It’s early. I’m writing the first list of cruxes, talking to potential co-founders, and looking for funding. There will be more to say soon.

Alongside that I’m still on the two threads this site is mostly about: what it would take to automate alignment research, and what models know versus what they only appear to know.
